Unmetered access

Are the calls I make to the Net free through Business Unmetered?
Yes, providing you use a BT line, your calls are free. You dial the Internet using an 0808 number which is free to dial, or when using ADSL, your normal line is still available and your Internet connection is permanently switched on without you having to dial, with no call fees for Internet use.

Our business uses the Net quite often - is this type of subscription-based service my cheapest option?
You have look at how much you're spending online each month and how much your telephone bills are amounting to. You also have to consider your Internet use in the coming months and years and whether it will increase. You should take into account, too, the advantages of surfing on an unmetered system whereby you're not watching the clock - it really is a better experience!
If your Internet access exceeds 30 hours a month, then Business User or Business User 24 accounts would be fine. If your usage surpasses 80 hours a month, then we recommend you choose the ADSL option for permanent connectivity.

Using the dial-up, will I get through on the dial-up number first time?
We hope so. Our systems have been designed to cope with the increased demand of people wanting to surf the Net for longer and these calculations have been taken into account. Our Business Unmetered systems are optimised for daytime use to ensure maximum performance.

I'm in business - why should I choose Business Unmetered?
Business Unmetered is the first business-only unmetered ISP aimed at providing businesses with a high-quality connection that's optimised for daytime access.

What do the dial-up cut-offs mean?
These only apply to Business User and Business User24 accounts. In order to prevent the Business Unmetered system being mis-used by those who prefer to stay online constantly and prevent others from gaining access, the network allows access for a given length of time, then you will be disconnected. You may also lose the connection if the line appears inactive for a given period of time. In both cases, you can, of course, reconnect immediately should you wish to do so.

What does 24/7 mean?
It means 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week. Effectively, it's 'all the time'.

What can I use my free web space for?
Your free web space is for personal use, and not intended to accommodate a business web site. You are allocated 10mb of web space on a web address you choose.

What about my email - how does that work?
From the Business Unmetered control panel, you can add up to 15 email addresses using the businessunmetered.com domain. For instance, you could have AlliedCoatings@businessunmetered.com or jane-brown@businessunmetered.com. To access the mail at these addresses you need to use an email client such as Outlook Express which is freely available and pre-installed on most Windows PCs.

How long does it take to set up an account?
It's immediate. All we ask is that you download the set-up file to your PC, supply your contact information, and payment details over a secure connection, then we'll send across your new account access details - it's that simple! Click here to go to the online order form.
